  • Experienced in existing homes

Whether you are refreshing a home or opening it up, no two builds are the same. We guide you from design through to build with practical solutions that suit the house you have.

  • One point of contact

You deal with one person from the first call through to handover, who knows your project and understands what you are after — not a rotating cast.

  • Detailed scope. Agreed inclusions.

Each proposal is tailored to your project, with clear scope, selections and inclusions written in language you can actually read.

  • A program you can plan around

Each project is scheduled and organised so it is delivered on a program you can plan your life around, without sacrificing workmanship or quality.

What we do

From complete home transformations to individual areas

We specialise in substantial renovations and extensions, managing the complete process rather than isolated cosmetic updates. That creates better coordination, clearer accountability and a more considered result.

A considered approach

Every home. A different approach.

No two homes, clients or renovation projects are the same.

We take the time to understand your vision, your priorities and the way you want to live before shaping the right approach for your home.

From carefully considered refurbishments to whole-home renovations and extensions, our experienced team manages the building process, coordinates trusted trades and helps you navigate the many decisions involved.

With more than ten years of construction experience across Brisbane, we combine practical building knowledge, quality workmanship and considered finishes to create homes that feel comfortable, cohesive and distinctly yours.

More about how we work

Guided decisions

You are not choosing it all on your own

A renovation is hundreds of decisions, and most of them are made long before anyone is on site. We work through them with you, in the order they need answering.

  • Materials and finishes

Tiles, stone, cabinetry profiles, tapware, hardware and flooring, chosen as parts of one design rather than one showroom at a time — so the colours, textures and proportions work together when they are all in the same room.

  • Ideas made buildable

We bring practical construction knowledge to the design conversation. Some ideas need refining, some need a different approach, and some are simpler than you expect — you will know which is which before anything is committed to.

  • Light, layout and storage

Where the light falls, how you move between rooms, and where everything actually lives. These decisions are made early, while they are still free to change, because they are the ones you notice every day afterwards.

  • Comfort through the year

Natural light, cross-ventilation, insulation, glazing and shading are worth considering while the house is open and the work can be integrated properly. It is the cheapest it will ever be to do, and in a Brisbane summer the difference is not subtle.

How it works

A considered process, from first conversation to construction

Good renovations begin with clear planning. We take the time to understand the project, assess the existing home and document the work properly before construction begins.

  1. Initial project review

Tell us about your renovation, your priorities and any plans you already have. We talk the project through, answer your first questions and establish whether our approach is the right fit. No cost, no obligation.

  2. Site assessment

We assess the existing home, take measurements and review the conditions that influence design, scope and cost — structure, services, drainage and site access. Any applicable fee is confirmed with you beforehand.

  3. Detailed proposal

A clearly documented proposal setting out scope, inclusions, allowances, indicative program and payment stages. Once the details are agreed, we confirm the next steps and schedule your project.

    Two bathroom renovations

  • “We've recently had the pleasure of working with James from All Hands On to do a full renovation of our bathrooms and laundry. We could not be happier with the outcome. James 100% delivered on the vision that we had for each room. James is excellent to work with, he has a high customer focus and spent time to understand our requirements, providing helpful design suggestions prior to delivering plans and a project schedule that he and his team delivered on time and to a very high standard. James is professional, has excellent communication skills and works closely with his contractors to ensure a consistently high standard of work at all times. James has a "can do" attitude and draws on his building experience to innovatively resolve any little challenges that arise during the project to ensure that he is delivering the outcome that we envisioned. We have no hesitation at all in recommending James to anyone looking to renovate their home and we would welcome him back if we have any further projects in the future. Paul & Kellie”

    Bathroom and laundry renovation

  • “I have been in my fully renovated house for about a month now and I have not yet recovered from the amazing experience of seeing the completed work for the first time! When doing a total renovation, it can be slightly nerve-wracking waiting for the end result, but thanks to the hard work, professionalism and commitment of James and his team, I knew I would not be disappointed and my expectations were exceeded. Communication was great, James kept me informed on the progress of the work and would consult me on any adjustments that needed to be made. Thanks James, Bianca and the team for doing such a wonderful job, and I have no hesitation in recommending All Hands On to anyone.”

Areas we work

Brisbane's inner north, north-west and the north side

Two areas, and both of them matter to us. Most of our renovation and extension work is in the character suburbs of the inner north and north-west; we are based at Eatons Hill and a good deal of what we build comes by referral from around it.

Inner north and north-west

Character housing on difficult blocks, where most of our renovation and extension work sits.

Common questions

Before you get in touch

The things people most often want to know before starting a renovation.

Renovation planner

Understand what shapes your renovation budget

Renovation costs are influenced by more than size alone. Layout changes, structural work, material selections, site conditions and the standard of finish all affect the final investment. Use the planner to explore the key cost drivers, compare finish levels and put together a brief we can work from.

Open the renovation planner

It only takes a few minutes, and your contact details are optional. Plans, selections and site conditions have to be assessed before anyone can price the work, so the figure comes from us once we have seen the property.

Finance

Finance available

Don't let upfront costs delay your plans. Finance options may be available to help bring your renovation to life sooner, with flexible repayment solutions available to approved applicants.

We do not arrange the finance ourselves and we do not give financial advice. Mention it when you get in touch and we will introduce you to the broker we work with — along with the scope of your project, so they are not starting from a blank page. We are not paid for the introduction.

All applications are subject to lender approval, lending criteria, and terms & conditions.
